MEMSIC designs motion sensors by combining MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) and CMOS ICs (Integrated Circuits) into a single chip (package). Examples of motion sensors are accelerometers and gyroscopes. Accelerometers are used in phones, for example to automatically adjust the screen when the phone is rotated, or for pedometer functionality. Gyroscopes are used in drones and game controllers. The chips of MEMSIC are used in products by Google, Vivo, Garmin, Samsung and Microsoft. MEMSIC works closely together with Xsens (Movella), a global player in 3D motion tracking and share the office in Enschede.
