Quantum technology is seen as a promising technology for the future. But what exactly is quantum, how does it work, and how do we apply it?
Quantum Delta NL and the MESA+ Institute of the University of Twente will jointly organize the symposium Quantum for Dummies. You don’t need any prior knowledge of quantum technology. In three short talks, you will get an insight in the basics of quantum. During the breaks and after the lectures, you can discover quantum in hands-on experiments and demonstrations.
Chair: Pepijn Pinkse
11.30h: Walk-in with lunch (location: Foyer Waaier building at University of Twente)
- ‘Basics of quantum: making sense of quantum weirdness’ by Ir. Bart Folkers – University of Twente & Bonhoeffer College
- ‘Explanation of demonstrations & experiments: discover quantum yourself’ by Dr. Dipl.-Phys. Kirsten Stadermann – University of Twente
13.15h: Coffee and tea break, incl. the opportunity to experiment with quantum
- ‘What is a photon?’ by Prof. Dr. Gerhard Rempe (MPQ)
- ‘Optical quantum computing’ by Dr. Jelmer Renema (University of Twente & QuiX Quantum)
More information and details about the lectures and program will follow soon.
