The Twente Board has appointed Eugène Reuvekamp as program director for the ChipTech Twente cluster and the Microchip Talent Twente Strengthening Plan, the Twente component of Project Beethoven. In this role, Reuvekamp will guide the implementation of the strengthening plan and the further development of the chip tech ecosystem in Twente, with a clear national and international perspective.
He will officially take up his position on September 1. Reuvekamp is an experienced professional with a solid R&D background and broad industrial expertise. He worked for many years in various positions at Philips and Malvern Panalytical, where he proved himself as a connector between technology, innovation, and the market. Driven by an intrinsic motivation to give meaning to social and technological challenges in the region, he has now consciously chosen to take on a leading role in Twente’s strategic chip tech program. “The opportunities for the eastern Netherlands in the fields of chip design, semiconductors, and photonics are enormous,” says Reuvekamp.
“In addition, as a region, we play an important role in the supply of semiconductor equipment, with companies such as VDL-ETG, Demcon, NTS Hengelo, Benchmark Electronics, and Technotion. With the right collaboration between industry, education, and government, we can contribute as a region to European strategic autonomy in the development and production of chips while remaining attractive to talent.”
As program director, Reuvekamp is responsible for managing the Microchip Talent Twente Strengthening Plan and coordinating and further developing the ChipTech Twente cluster. He works closely with regional high-tech companies, educational institutions, and government agencies on topics such as talent development, innovation stimulation, and ecosystem development.
